The cooperative wineries
Our region has a great many cooperative wineries of very fine quality: the Chardonnay/Lugny winery, the Mancey winery, the Azé winery, Les Terres secrètes in Solutré, the Buxy winery, and more. 13 of Burgundy’s 19 cooperative wineries are in Saône-et-Loire — that says it all! The welcome is always special, the tastings free and the value for money unbeatable.
The estates
Tastings at the estates are generally free, but do remember to call ahead and arrange an appointment with the winegrower. We make the appointments for our guests if they wish.
Private tastings at La Cadole de Chardonnay
Fancy an exclusive experience in an idyllic setting? We organise tastings with a local partner winegrower, followed by an aperitif platter (charcuterie and cheese) at La Cadole de Chardonnay. For this new 2026 season we also offer a mixed alternative (No-Low tasting and vegetarian platter) so that no one is left out of this shared moment.

ESTATES & WINERIES
Cave de Chardonnay or Cave de Lugny
- The Cave de Chardonnay and the Cave de Lugny, about 8 kilometres apart, offer the same wines and crémants. The Cave de Chardonnay is open in season, while the Cave de Lugny is open all year round.
- Besides the classic free tastings you can enjoy there, the Cave de Lugny hosts a great many events, always memorable and of real quality. Don’t miss the open days in Chardonnay or Lugny either — quite a sight. Event or not, the welcome is always faultless.
- For hen or stag parties, this is the chance — while you celebrate with us — to go and choose your wedding wines. The excellent value for money of the wines and crémants of Chardonnay, and the very wide choice, have won over many of our guests.
Vuillemez Père & Fils in Chardonnay
- At Vuillemez Père & Fils in Chardonnay you will discover wines of remarkable quality and elegance. There is a true signature here: Vuillemez wines are Vuillemez wines.
- You need to book ahead through their website for a tasting and a tour of the cellar.
- We warmly recommend this visit, right in the heart of the village of Chardonnay!
Château Chardonnay in Chardonnay
- At Romain Poncet’s you will always be warmly welcomed, because he loves sharing his work. A small bonus: his father, who has studied the history of Chardonnay at length, will enrich your visit with fine fragments of our local history.
- A Château Chardonnay right in the heart of the village of Chardonnay — what else?
- We warmly recommend this discovery of quality wines at good value for money!
Hervé Philippe in Champvent (Chardonnay)
- Hervé Philippe is a bit of our favourite, let’s admit it. Jean even nicknamed him Getafix, for his taste for the most natural approach possible in making his wine.
- A straightforward, natural, welcoming winegrower, always smiling, who passes on his passion for his craft.
- Quality organic wines, a lovely range and prices that remain affordable — that counts too!
Les Cadoles de Chardonnay in Champvent (Chardonnay)
- Nicolas is the first winegrower we worked with when we arrived in Chardonnay. Available, welcoming and always game, when his schedule allows, to host a tasting at La Cadole de Chardonnay.
- Nicolas offers wines with that typical Chardonnay character (a balance between richness and acidity, a fine minerality, with aromas of pineapple and citrus but also more complex notes of lime blossom and white fruit, through to a buttery or honeyed touch) that many of you look for, in an affordable price range.
Domaine Quintefeuille in Lugny
- We are very fond of Domaine Quintefeuille. You will say I am repeating myself, but it is only logical: these are estates we know well and whose welcome, passion for the craft and quality of production we can vouch for.
- The first words that come to mind for Quintefeuille wines are balance, elegance and finesse.
- Our great favourite is the Cuvée Elégance, but the entry-level range is already worth the trip, and these are wines that age well when kept in good conditions.
- Affordable prices for quality wines.
Catherine and Eric Giroud in Uchizy
- Éric and Catherine Giroud, two fine personalities, great simplicity, genuine kindness.
- Jean and I have been certain of this since 2018: the winegrower is in the bottle! It may surprise you, but one could almost describe the winegrower and the wine with the same vocabulary.
- When I say simple and unpretentious about a wine, I do not mean “low-end” or “table wine” but “honest“, a wine that brings people together and that “keeps its promises“.
Giroud wines are quite varied — it is up to you to find your favourites!
Domaine Talmard Mallaury & Benjamin in Uchizy
- Benjamin and Mallaury Talmard need no introduction. They have won people over internationally for many years now.
- A great deal of elegance and purity in their wines, much like the tasting room itself.
Domaine Thévenard in Uchizy
The Thévenard sons, at the cutting edge of innovation!
- This fifth generation is not short of assets and has made its name resonate.
- The visit promises fine discoveries of new techniques and a most enjoyable tasting.
- A great deal of sincerity, honesty and purity.
- Lovers of typical Chardonnay character will be won over, as we were, by the winegrowers, their commitment, their convictions and the faultless result that follows from it all.
Cave d'Azé in Azé
The Cave d’Azé is really worth the detour!
- A first-rate welcome and a convivial tasting during which you are not drowned in technical commentary. You are left to follow your own sensations and impressions, while your questions are answered.
A very wide range of wines — choice, choice and more choice!
- Tradition, ancestral know-how and modernity sit side by side in this winery, where plenty of room is given to the youngest members for the cuvées entrusted to them.
Really lovely value for money!
You are bound to find favourites at the Cave d’Azé.
Le Note de Ruby, chosen by Jean’s eldest daughter for her wedding, was a great success, for instance.
- In short, you will have gathered: a visit to the Cave d’Azé is a must if the time you have allows it.
Good to know: this visit can be combined with a tour of the Azé Caves, where bottles are stored and where tastings accompanied by local produce are held from time to time.
Domaine des Terres Rouges in Azé
- We fell for Domaine des Terres Rouges at the Oenogourmandes fair in Tournus.
- We have since added it to our list, much to our guests’ delight.
- Jean-Yves and his son Bastien share their passion with a great deal of patience and clarity.
- The tastings we have held at La Cadole de Chardonnay with Domaine des Terres Rouges have been a resounding success.
Domaine Gondard-Perrin in Viré
- With a range of more than 13 wines, Domaine Gondard-Perrin has something for everyone.
- Exceptional quality right from the entry-level range, which ages beautifully. A first-rate welcome!
Domaine Franck Michel in Clessé
- A faultless welcome and faultless wines. Even though wine remains a matter of taste, you cannot be disappointed at Domaine Michel, and you are sure to find your favourite Viré-Clessé.
- Domaine Michel’s reputation needs no introduction, and has not for several generations.
- Go with your eyes closed and your taste buds open!
Domaine De La Verpaille in Clessé
- This is the fifth generation at Domaine de La Verpaille, where they have been winegrowers from father to son since 1880.
- Set in the heart of the Viré-Clessé Cru, this family estate has, since 2006, offered a range of wines all produced organically.
- Estelle and Baptiste show that respect for tradition and a modern approach that respects the environment are in no way incompatible!
- We discovered this estate at the 24th Printemps du Cru Viré-Clessé and added it to our selection at once!
- If you enjoy talking with passionate winegrowers who are exacting in their work, and wines that are pure, stable and elegant, then do go to Domaine de La Verpaille, where you will be warmly welcomed.
Domaine des Gandines in Clessé
An estate you absolutely must know!
Red or white? Both, of course!
- My own favourites: Les Frangins in red and Le Loris in white. Two truly exceptional wines with a real signature.

Le Chai Duchet in Viré
A young and dynamic estate!
- Even though the estate is hardly a newcomer — it has been nestled in the heart of the Mâconnais at Viré since the 18th century — Alexis has brought it that touch of energy and modernity that sets it apart.
- Today the organic vineyard covers 9 hectares in the Viré-Clessé appellation and 2.5 hectares in Mâcon-Villages, at Viré.
- Particular attention is paid to soil vitality and to constant reflection on climate issues.
- A friendly welcome, fresh and invigorating, much like the wines. A price range and a variety that suit every palate and every budget.
Domaine Debreuille in Royer
- The youngest of the estates we mention here, offering you the chance to treat yourself without breaking the bank.
- A likeable philosophy, with vine-sponsorship schemes, workshops, walks… and even a wine bar and restaurant from 2026: La Cabane du Vigneron
- In short, at Debreuille you are drawn in: you take part, rather than merely watching or consuming.
A visit or a workshop to be enjoyed without moderation!
Domaine Lucie & François Xavier Delorme in Plottes
- Frankly, we love it, like many others. What makes this estate distinctive is that it offers Côte-d’Or appellations vinified at Plottes, and it is an outright success.
- We greatly appreciate this couple of winegrowers, whose generosity also shows in the way they welcome the seasonal workers who come to work with them. Respect for the planet is good, respect for the customer is good, respect for people is better still.
Cave de Mancey in Tournus
The Cave de Vignerons de Mancey is, to begin with, a very fine winery — informative and turned towards awakening the senses and the mind.
You will find a very wide choice among the cooperative’s own wines, but also others from all over Burgundy.
- Several tasting formats and guided routes are on offer.
- The Cave de Mancey can accommodate large groups and seminars.
- Another visit we warmly recommend, and one our guests at the Gîte de La Pyranvôle make almost systematically.
- The Gîte de La Pyranvôle and La Cadole de Chardonnay are partners of the Cave de Mancey, so do remember to mention that you are staying at one of our two places to enjoy a few extras!
Domaine Baptiste & Francis Delorme, Plottes/Préty
- Simplicity, kindness and generosity! That describes these two winegrower brothers as well as their wine.
- Light, fruity, easy-drinking whites, reds with aromas of red fruit and cherry and a discreet oak note on the finish.
- The pink, sandy limestone soils of Préty give wines that are easy to drink and light on their feet.
- Call ahead for a visit, generally late in the afternoon around 6 p.m.
Excellent value for money.
Le Clos des Vignes du Maynes in Cruzille
Zero chemicals from the very beginning!
- For lovers of biodynamic wine, this is the essential estate in Cruzille!
- Julien Guyot’s wines have earned a reputation that is thoroughly deserved.
- With more than 17 wines, not counting the crémants and the Marc de Bourgogne, the hardest part is choosing.
Domaine Nicolas Maillet in Verzé
- Chardonnay, Aligoté, Savagnin, Gamay and Pinot Noir — an estate blessed with real richness!
- In order to bring out the character of each terroir, no commercial yeast is used. Fermentation relies on the yeasts naturally present on the grapes of each plot. Vinification takes place in the estate’s own cellar.
- Nicolas Maillet — a personality, and wines, that leave no one indifferent. He managed to change my mind about Aligoté, which no one had achieved before!
Domaine Barraud in Vergisson
Showcasing the terroir, respecting tradition, and a fine signature in the magnificent setting of the Roche de Vergisson.
Continuing a long family tradition (since 1905), the present generation — carrying the inherited passion for wine and for things well done — has nonetheless managed to reinvent itself, much to our delight.
You can go to Domaine Barraud with complete confidence: besides discovering excellent high-quality wines, you will be made very welcome!
Domaine Saumaize-Michelin in Vergisson
- It was our (Belgian) guests who introduced us to Saumaize-Michelin and to the artisan winegrowers’ fair. Yes, it works that way round too! We share our secrets and our good addresses.
- And what a magnificent discovery it was. Meeting Domaine Saumaize-Michelin at the artisan winegrowers’ fair in Hurigny in November 2025 confirmed that first impression of rare, essential wines.
- Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru, Pouilly-Fuissé, Saint-Véran, Mâcon Village and Mâcon red, all certified biodynamic.
- A fairly well-kept gem: the Ampélopsis cuvée — a must-have, if any is left!
There you are — we were keen to guide you a little in your choice of cellar visits and tastings during your stay with us, at the Gîte de La Pyranvôle or at La Cadole de Chardonnay.
Here it is, this list of our favourite winegrowers! Of course they are not all here (Saône-et-Loire alone has close to 400 estates and cooperative wineries). We could also have mentioned the very fine Domaine Rochebin in Azé for the many events held there, or the unmissable Lugny Verres Des Vins in Lugny for wonderfully indulgent tastings, local, national and international. But our aim is not to drown you in too vast a choice!
We also want to leave you the pleasure of discovering things for yourself, whether at random or at the many wine-tourism events that liven up our region: Les Œnogourmandes and the Vin sur Vin fair in Tournus, the Salon des Artisans Vignerons in Hurigny, the famous Chardonnay Day in Chardonnay, Le Printemps du Cru Viré-Clessé or the traditional Saint-Vincent Tournantes. The Mâconnais-Tournugeois Tourist Office also offers tastings and highly original visits, such as rides through the vines on a Segway!
If you are curious, we also have very fine addresses to recommend in the Côte Chalonnaise, the Beaujolais or the Côte de Beaune. Our philosophy, however, is discovery that stays as local as possible. That is why this selection is deliberately kept within a radius of some thirty kilometres around us.
